The Golden Rule
My golden rule is simple: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
Your skin is what sets the base for everything else, so take good care of it. Drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep, and moisturize. My senior year of high school, my Spanish teacher's words of wisdom before graduation were "to moisturize- you'll thank me one day." I alerted her that I had been militant about using my Neutrogena moisturizer since I was 14. I've come a long way since those days, but these are the tricks that I've picked up along the way:
1. Choose a moisturizer that is hypo-allergenic (less likely to cause an allergic reaction) and non-comedogenic (won't clog your pores).
2. Choose a moisturizer that has SPF 30+
3. Have two different moisturizers: one for the spring/summer and another for fall/winter.
4. Apply moisturizer with your middle and ring fingers. Those fingers are less likely to tug at your face and stretch skin so you face won't sag or wrinkly.
5. Apply moisturizer down to your neck. Some apply down to the decolletage, but I prefer to use regular body lotion in that area to save money!
Here are some products that I absolutely love:
THE WALLET FRIENDLY - Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid
I normally buy this with SPF 30. It has a clean smell, and it's not too thick and not too diluted.

**Note: when did they start calling themselves Olay and not OIL of Olay? I guess they didn't want women thinking that their products were literally made of oil? What do you think?
THE MODERATE - Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer
This product comes as a regular tinted moisturizer and as an oil-free moisturizer but I like the "ILLUMINATING" tinted moisturizer because it has a bit of sparkle in it which gives me a dewy look. The best thing about tinted moisturizer is that it gives you some coverage so you can wear less concealer, powder, foundation, etc.

THE INVESTMENT - Chanel Hydramax + Active Creme (for dry skin) and gel creme (for oily/combination skin)
This is probably my favorite. It's $70 but so worth it every winter. It not only smells heavenly but it hydrates extremely well. Winter flakiness, dryness, tightness and roughness stand no chance. If you're hesitant about spending the $70, rest assured that one jar will last the entire winter. You only need a little bit of it to cover your face and neck.
